Get To Know Dr. Austin Nunez
As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Austin Nunez’s goal is to provide your children with the best dental care possible. He hopes each child has a positive experience, building the foundation for a lifetime of healthy dental habits. Dr. Austin strives to create a fun, safe environment that makes parents and children feel comfortable and welcomed at each visit. His greatest joy is getting to know families, and seeing the children grow with each visit.
Dr. Austin grew up in Reno, NV, and attended college at the University of Nevada, Reno. There, he studied organic chemistry and joined the pre-dental club, volunteering at a local dental clinic in his spare time. After college, Dr. Austin headed to Omaha, Nebraska where he attended Creighton University School of Dentistry for four years, graduating near the top of his class.
After dental school, Dr. Austin moved to Austin, TX, where he accepted the National Health Service Corps Scholarship to practice at an underserved community clinic. It was here that he fell in love with caring for children. Once he decided to specialize in children’s dentistry, Dr. Austin applied to and matched with the UCLA Pediatric Dental Residency Program. During this time, he also received a grant to study at UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health, earning his Master’s Degree in Public Health. Dr. Austin is a diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentists, and is a member of the American Dental Association. He is also a member of the Redwood Empire Dental Society and the California Dental Association.
After completing his time at UCLA, Dr. Austin and his wife (also a dentist!) decided to move to Petaluma to be closer to their families, and instantly fell in love with its small town charm and friendly people. Dr. Austin has a 2 year old daughter, Olivia, and he and his wife are also active resource foster parents. When not in the office, you can find Dr. Austin and family at McNear Park throwing the ball for their dog Zoey, volunteering at The Miracle League of Petaluma, or hiking through Helen Putnam Park.
